Pharmaceutical Management Branch (PMB)

The Pharmaceutical Management Branch (PMB) is a unique resource for investigational oncology agents in support of NCI's DIviision of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) clinical research efforts. PMB provides the extramural community with specific pharmaceutical services, regulatory oversight, and administrative support. PMB pharmacists manage approximately 180 investigational agents, negotiate with pharmaceutical collaborators to ensure appropriately labeled investigational agent supplies and associated drug information are available, and support thousands of domestic and international clinical sites that enroll patients to NCI-funded clinical trials. PMB responsibilities include: 

Agent Management:

• Providing drug information about CTEP-IND agents
• Authorizing and distributing CTEP-IND agents to eligible investigators
• Providing agent ordering and inventory management resources for all CTEP-IND agents
• Negotiating drug labeling and supply with pharmaceutical partners
• Providing support in review and development of pharmaceutical content in clinical study documents

Investigator and Staff Registration:

• Maintaining individual person registration accounts identifying study personnel involved in the conduct of NCI-sponsored trials
• Maintaining the repository of investigator and sub-investigator credentials and training used to qualify suitable individuals for NCI clinical trials
