Registration and Access Management - CTEP Users

A user enters log-in information on a laptop.

Access to NCI’s online applications, including CTEP CORE, CTSU, and the NCI CIRB, requires all users to create a secure CTEP-IAM account, including multi-factor authentication and proof of identity with ID.me.

Investigators and research staff must also register annually with NCI’s Registration and Credential Repository (RCR).

CTEP Identity and Access Management (CTEP-IAM)

To access CTEP-supported clinical trial systems, all users must have a CTEP-IAM account.

To register and request a CTEP-IAM account, visit the CTEP-IAM login page and click the "Request New Account" link under the Sign In button.

Account requests will be reviewed and and processed by the CTEP Registration Helpdesk within two business days.

When you create a new account, you will be asked to choose one of the following registration types:

  • Investigator (IVR) - MD, DO, or international equivalent
  • Non-Physician Investigator (NPIVR)- advanced practice provider (e.g., NP or PA) or graduate level researcher (e.g., PhD)
  • Associate Plus (AP) - clinical site staff (e.g., RN or CRA) with data entry access to CTSU applications (e.g., OPEN, RAVE, TRIAD)
  • Associate (A) - other clinical site staff involved in the conduct of NCI-supported research

Choose an appropriate registration type based on your role in NCI-supported clinical studies.

Where to Get Help With CTEP-IAM Registration

ID.me Proof-of-Identity and Multifactor Authentication

To protect NCI systems, subjects, research staff, and confidential information, NCI has partnered with the nationally recognized platform ID.me to provide multi-factor authentication and identity proofing for all NCI systems. ID.me meets the highest standards for these IT security functions, including:

After your new CTEP-IAM account has been approved, follow the instructions in the approval email to verify your CTEP-IAM account.

As part of the account verification process, you will link your CTEP-IAM account to your ID.me account. If you do not have an ID.me account, you will be able to create one at that time.

If you have questions or need assistance with linking your ID.me account to your CTEP-IAM account, contact the CTEP helpdesk at ncictephelp@ctep.nci.nih.gov.

Users with NIH credential accounts (such as federal employees and contractors) may use their NIH PIV credentials instead of ID.me.

Registration and Credential Repository (RCR)

After creating a CTEP-IAM account and linking it to an ID.me account, Investigators (IVR, NPIVR, and NINT) and Associate Plus (AP) users must register with NCI’s Registration and Credential Repository (RCR).

RCR registration requires additional documentation and must be renewed annually. This NCI policy is designed to fulfill FDA requirements for IND sponsors to select qualified investigators.

The RCR Help Guide has information and answers to many common questions about the RCR registration process.

If you have additional questions or need assistance, contact the RCRHelpDesk@nih.gov.
