Dr. Shakun Malik joined NCI’s Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program in 2013 as the head of thoracic oncology therapeutics. She manages the Clinical Investigation Branch’s portfolio of lung cancer clinical trials to facilitate the development of new therapies and clinical biomarkers for patients with lung cancer. 

Dr. Malik graduated from of The University of Kashmir, India, and completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Hematology, and has extensive experience in both research and clinical care. Prior to joining CTEP, she worked at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and conducted research with the NIH’s Human Genome Project. She has served as Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital and as the Chief of Center for Thoracic Oncology and Director of Multi-Disciplinary Thoracic Oncology Clinic at the Lombardi Cancer Center.
