NCI Complementary and Integrative Medicine Health Disparities Research

NCI Complementary and Integrative Medicine and Cancer Health Disparities Working Group aims to stimulate research of evidence-based complementary and integrative medicine addressing patient-centered physical, emotional, social, behavior, spiritual, and environmental influences and developing strategies to reduce the unequal burden of cancer and improve the optimal health outcome in disparity or vulnerable populations.

May 25, 2021, Inaugural Webinar: NCI Complementary and Integrative Medicine Cancer Disparity Working Group hosted timely first webinar series in commemorating the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at NCI. It was open to the public. "Reducing Disparities among Asian American Cancer Survivors" by Dr. Qian Lu, Professor in the Department of Health Disparities Research, Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The event was featured in the NCI Director’s weekly email announcement. Watch the recording.

September 23, 2021, Webinar: Co-hosted NIH Asian American Pacific Islander Health Scientific Interest Group Inaugural Seminar "Health Disparities Research: Addressing Multilevel Social Determinants of Health in Asian American and Pacific Islander Populations" by Grace X. Ma, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Health Disparities, Temple University. Dr. Eliseo Perez Stable, Director of NIMHD gave an outstanding opening remark. Watch the recording.
