Endometrial cancer starts in the cells of the inner lining of the uterus (the endometrium) and is the most common type of cancer in the uterus. It is typically diagnosed in women aged 45-74. The death rate from specifically aggressive non-endometrioid subtypes increased by 2.7% each year from 2010-2017, with the worst outcomes in black women. The American Cancer Society (ACS) forecasts approximately 68,270 new cases and 14,450 deaths for 2026. The first Endometrial Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) was funded in 2003.
