Eunkyung An, Ph.D.
Dr. Eunkyung An is involved in the oversight and coordination of several Office of Cancer Clinical Proteomics Research (OCCPR) programs, including the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) and the International Cancer Proteogenome Consortium (ICPC). Dr. An also supports NCI's Proteome Characterization Laboratory at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.
Dr. An joined the DCTD in 2020 as a Program manager for OCCPR, and has been a Program Director since 2024. Dr. An joined OCCPR after a successful career in the private sector, focusing on applying mass spectrometry-based clinical proteomics assays for cancer precision medicine. Dr. An advised scientific and technical staff as a manager at mProbe, where she played a key role in transferring mass spectrometry-based clinical proteomics assays for cancer research. At NantOmics, as a Senior Scientist, she led and managed several international oncology projects and qualified numerous LC-MS/MS platforms to analyze FFPE tumor tissues from cancer patients in a CAP/CLIA-certified laboratory. Earlier in her career at Expression Pathology (OncoPlexDx), Dr. An developed mass spectrometry-based assays for cancer research and diagnostics. Her pioneering and innovated work in the industry have led to numerous patents for mass spectrometry-based assays used for cancer research and diagnosis.
Dr. An completed her postdoctoral training in the Laboratory of Immune System Biology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, where she conducted quantitative proteomics and mRNA profiling to understand functional reprogramming in osteoclast development. She actively collaborated with multiple research teams, including a notable collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to characterize centromere protein A.
