Dr. Xi joined OCCAM in 2005. As the Research Development and Support Program Director, she is responsible for NCI’s CAM portfolio analysis. Dr. Xi manages cancer complementary and integrative medicine research grants and cooperative agreements in the following areas: lifestyle modifications, medical interventions (nutrition, exercise, sleep), meditation, manual-therapy, traditional medicine systems, herbal medicine, chronotherapy, biological and pharmacological non-conventional modalities, and microbiome-based therapeutics. 
Dr. Xi leads the NCI Integrative Oncology Working Group. She was “Chair” for several conferences, for example, 2016 NCI Cancer CAM Therapeutics Strategic Workshop, 2017 trans-NIH Circadian and Chronomedicine in the era of Precision Medicine, 2019 Workshop on Rigor and Reproducibility: Fecal Microbiota Transplant and Microbiome Cancer Therapeutics, 2024 2nd NCI/NIH Microbiome Targeted Intervention Clinical Research Workshop. Dr. Xi contributed to the 2020-2030 Strategic Plan for NIH Nutrition Research and 2021 NIH Sleep Research Plan. She is a member of NCI Clinical Trial Stewardship Committee and leads the NCI-NIH Integrative Medicine Education Course. 

Prior to joining OCCAM, Dr Xi had extensive research experience in neuroscience and cancer at NINDS and NCI.  She was a member of a multidisciplinary group with expertise in high-throughput robotic technologies, bioinformatics (built a 35K human cDNA microarray facility in 2002 for transcriptome molecular classification of glioblastoma), single-neuron RNA quantification, neurotransmitters and transporters, biomarker and drug discovery, pharmacology and toxicology at molecular, cellular and pathophysiology levels.
