Veena Gopalakrishnan, Ph.D.
Dr. Gopala joined the Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research Branch (BBRB) in the summer of 2017. At BBRB, she is involved with the Cancer Moonshot Biobank, which comprises both solid and hematological malignancies. The goal of the Biobank is to serve the research needs of new initiatives so they can improve cancer cures. She obtained her Ph.D. from Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore, where she studied regulation of telomere maintenance for applications in cancer therapeutics. She also has a master’s degree in bioinformatics from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prior to her Ph.D., she worked at the National Cancer Centre of Singapore, where she coordinated efforts to set up a gastric cancer tissue repository that integrates data from genomics platforms to identify novel biomarkers in gastric cancer.
