NCI Biospecimen Evidence-Based Practices (BEBP)

NCI BEBPs are fit-for-purpose procedural guidelines based on published data and expert recommendations. The detailed, yet adaptable, format was designed to help individual projects, biobanks, and organizations create evidence-based standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Each BEBP includes:

  • step-by-step procedural guidelines,
  • optimal procedures and acceptable alternatives,
  • topic-based summaries of literature evidence,
  • a hyperlinked bibliography, and
  • recommendations of an expert panel.

BEBP development is ongoing, with new content added as it becomes available.

Available BEBPs
