This figure shows the research components of the University of North Carolina Breast Cancer SPORE, driven by discoveries in breast cancer research. At the top of the figure various experimental approaches are represented. The approaches to molecular genetics include the prognosis and prediction of responses to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. From molecular genetics, the components branch out into two areas, Health Equity Population-based and Clinical trial focusing on CAR T therapy. Health Equity Population Based studies influence treatment biomarker studies while the clinical trials for CAR T studies influence the strategies for targeting the immune system. All of these components are focused on research of conventional treatment resistant triple negative breast cancer.
