Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors

In 2000, an international committee first promulgated unified, easily applicable criteria for measuring tumor response using X-ray, CT, and MRI which are known as Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST). The technique is recommended but not mandatory for NCI-sponsored clinical trials and involves formalized rules for measurement of tumor target lesions. The latest version of the criteria, RECIST Guideline (Version 1.1), was published in 2009.
